(Yicai Global) July 15 -- China and France have entered a tiff about the resumption of flights amid the Covid-19 pandemic as two of Chinese airlines' three French routes have been suspended, Yicai Global learned.
Today's Air China CA934 flight, going to Beijing from Paris, has been canceled as it has not been approved by the French Directorate General for Civil Aviation, the Chinese Embassy in France said on its website on July 13.
Passengers should check on their itineraries well in advance as there are great uncertainties in future flights between the two countries, the embassy added.
Moreover, inquiries on China Southern's Paris-Guangzhou flight for today returned no responses on its website. Before this, three Chinese airlines were flying to Paris from Beijing, Shanghai, and southern Guangzhou.
On July 12, France's DGAC said that it will limit Chinese airlines' three-flights-per-week schedule to one per week in accordance with the principle of reciprocity as the aviation authority would like to see a change in China allowing Air France to fly three times a week to Shanghai. So far it has one flight only.
But progress could soon follow. The French flag carrier is currently waiting for the Chinese government to approve another weekly flight to Shanghai. The eastern city has already given the green light to the plan.
