(Yicai) May 7 -- The eighth China-Russia Expo, the highest-level and largest exhibition hosted by the two countries, will be held from May 16 through May 21 in Harbin, China's northeastern Heilongjiang province.
China and Russia will showcase their partnership results and investment opportunities in the industrial, agriculture, trade, logistics, and other fields under the theme of "Cooperation, Trust and Opportunities," Liu Xuesong, director of China's Ministry of Commerce's Eurasia affairs department, said yesterday.
The exhibition area will cover 388,000 square meters and include over 5,000 products in more than 20 major categories from 10 sectors. Russia Exhibition Area, International and Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan Exhibition Area, Provincial, Municipal, and Central Enterprise Cooperation Exhibition Area, Longjiang Revitalization Exhibition Area, and High-End Equipment and Machinery Manufacturing and Supporting Services Exhibition Area will be part of the main venue.
More than 120 Chinese and overseas delegations from 44 countries and regions will take part in the expo, noted Chen Shijun, head of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Heilongjiang Committee. Over 5,000 professional buyers and more than 2,000 companies from around will also participate, Chen added.
The bilateral trade between China and Russia reached USD240.1 billion last year. The positive growth momentum has continued this year, with the figure jumping 5.2 percent to USD56.7 billion in the three months ended March 31 from a year earlier.
Besides Heilongjiang, which shares a 2,981 kilometers border with Russia, Jilin, Liaoning, Shandong provinces, and the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, which have traditionally cooperated with Russia, as well as southeastern coastal provinces, including Guangdong, Zhejiang, and Jiangsu, are also taking part in the expo.
Twenty-five state delegations from Russia, Rosatom State Atomiс Energy, GAZ, Russia-China Investment Fund, Far East and Arctic Development, Delo Group, Russian Institute of Strategic Studies, Opora Russia, and Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs will participate in the expo, according to the Russian commercial representative in China.
Russian Export Center, Far Eastern Shipping, and Miratorg Agribusiness Holding will set up themed exhibition areas for information technology, agriculture products and food, and handicrafts, the commercial representative pointed out.
