(Yicai) July 12 -- The International Finance Forum (IFF) and the China Electric Power Construction Association (CEPCA) today announced the establishment of the IFF Energy Transition and Development Committee in an effort to drive sustainable energy practices and foster global cooperation in the energy sector.
Theinauguration of the IFF Energy Transition and Development Committee marks a significant milestone in global efforts to accelerate the transition to renewable and sustainable energy solutions worldwide. Through the committee, the IFF and the CEPCA will leverage their respective strengths and expertise in energy, finance, and technology to promote innovation, investment, and policy frameworks that support the global energy transition, as well as the green transition.
"Today, the establishment of the Committee further demonstrates the IFF's continuous efforts to promote sustainable development and global cooperation, especially when humanity is faced with unprecedented challenges due to climate change. The Committee is a testament to the IFF and CEPCA's collective determination to quicken the green transition,” said Han Seung-soo, IFF Co-chairman, Chair of the Council of Presidents of the UN General Assembly, and former Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea.
The Committee will focus on areas that include energy sector analyses, policy advocacy, facilitating investments in clean energy projects and technologies, and promoting international cooperation and knowledge exchanges.
"In the future, the IFF Energy Transition and Development Committee will carry out a series of work to promote energy transition and development. We will collaborate with Tsinghua University, Paris University and IFF and jointly carry out “the UN Sustainable Development Pioneer Doctorate Pilot Training Program”, providing training to 20 to 30 outstanding entrepreneurs and elites in China and abroad every year. The graduates will gain certificate issued by Paris University withglobal recognition. I welcome all talents participate in this program,” Wang Si Qiang, President of the CEPCA and Co-chair of the IFF Energy Transition and Development Committee.
The Committee will serve as a platform for energy transition research and international cooperation and help drive global efforts for green transition and climate mitigation.
IFF Executive Vice President and former Secretary of the International Monetary Fund Lin Jianhai said: “The IFF is looking forward to working hand in hand with all the leaders, entrepreneurs, experts and scholars present here to contribute our wisdom and strength to achieve the global energy transition and SDGs together.”
