(Yicai Global) Sept. 26 -- A new Iveco truck shipped from the port of La Spezia in Italy has become the first exhibit cleared by Chinese customs officials to enter the country in preparation for the second China International Import Expo in November.

The truck, which weighs about three tons and is worth nearly EUR50,000 (USD54,780), was declared to the General Administration of Customs at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai via ATA Carnet.

The GAC has set up an office at the Shanghai venue to enhance customs clearance for the event. The office will manage and coordinate oversight of international exhibitions and provide the CIIE with year-round, all-inclusive services, including providing unified tax guarantees for corporate exhibitors, simplifying approval and quarantine procedures, and setting up priority VIP channels.

The second CIIE will welcome more than 3,000 firms from over 150 countries and regions, including some of the world's top 500 companies and industry leaders. Its new product and technology debuts will outnumber that of the first CIIE last year.

Turin-based Iveco was the only commercial vehicle maker to take part in the first CIIE. The firm's exhibition space has increased to 301-square meters this year from 120-square meters.

The CIIE's Enterprise and Business Exhibition will showcase new fields such as augmented and virtual reality and add a new venue, an outdoor zone for driverless technologies and an experience area for Winter Olympics snow and ice sports.
